We’re Catherine and Kevin—partners in puzzles, life, and Melodic Escape.

Hi, we’re the team behind Melodic Escape.

We’re a Toronto-based duo who create play-at-home escape games that combine our passions: music and puzzles. Siren's Melody is our first game, where players travel across a mystical land in search of missing music notes to complete the lost melody.

Our story

We met at a board game night, and have been playing games together ever since. But we never imagined we'd create games ourselves.

It started when I was struggling to re-enter the job market after my maternity leave. I couldn't just keep applying for work without fulfilling my need to be productive and creative. Combining my background in UX design, writing and music, I founded Melodic Escape: publishing games for people like myself who love immersive puzzles.

My husband, Kevin, is a developer and an avid gamer, helped bring our games to life. He made sure they respond to your choices and discoveries.

Melodic Escape has been one of our greatest adventures. And we can't wait to share what's next.

We redesigned our hints page to make it easier to focus on what you actually need.

The old version asked players to scroll through everything at once. The new version reveals only the hint you choose, keeping the experience immersive and uncluttered.

Improving our hints page after playtesting

A quiet moment from Siren’s Melody as we finish the final details.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been #playtesting with more reviewers and making a handful of small but important refinements. That includes some visual updates we’re excited to show soon.

We originally mentioned a mid-February #kickstarter launch, but it’s clear we’re better off taking a little more time to get this right. The game is very close, and the final pieces are coming together.

What began as a fun concept to try slowly became something more involved.

Through early prototypes, playtests, and a lot of experimentation, the game kept telling us what it needed next.

We’ve loved watching Siren’s Melody grow into a more intentional experience, and we’re excited to take the next step by bringing the game to life through Kickstarter.

2025 was the start of something special. Kevin and I (Catherine) founded Melodic Escape while we were between jobs. Starting a new venture was scary. But we found the courage because we did something that we loved.

It was messy at the beginning. We were learning as we went along, building our first game, Siren's Melody.

Our art and promo were further enhanced thanks to the works of @cloudyning and @emmauves

Outside of designing the game, we've met so many inspiring people through our playtests, reviewer community. We exhibited at the fall 2025 @torontogameexpo and participated in the @interactive_ontario holiday mixer.

We can't wait to announce our Kickstarter early next year!

We had such a blast exhibiting our mini-game at our first @torontogameexpo.

It was surprising (and so fun!) seeing how many people played through the full 20-minute game at such a busy expo. Our little “chairbles” were super effective at getting people to notice the missing children’s poster and jump right in.

The food prizes were a hit—we didn’t expect people to prefer juices over chips. 🧃 Way to stay healthy, Toronto! 🍇🍎
