Something pinned to the tree

You’re on a quiet hike through the woods when something catches your eye: a poster nailed to a tree, fluttering in the wind. You stop to read.

Ready to play?

What is the name of the place where the children were last seen?

Correct. The path forward reveals itself. See the next section.

That’s not quite right. Look closely—the answer is hidden in what’s been worn away.

The footsteps they left behind

You’ve reached the village of Hamelin.
Traces of the missing children remain: tuneful footprints, forgotten things.

Once you place the footsteps in the right order, a villager steps from the shadows.

"I saw'em come through last night—a shadowy figure, playing a strange tune. One by one, the children followed. Folks've been sayin' it's the Piper."

She hands you a faded sheet.

“Each young’un had their own bit of the melody. This guide here might help you figure out what they heard.”

Correct. The melody aligns with the path they took.
You follow the steps… and the way forward reveals itself.

Not quite. The notes don’t match the steps they followed. Try again.

A mysterious flute

You follow the trail until it abruptly ends. Half-buried in the grass, lies a flute. It must belong to the Pied Piper. You pick it up. It’s not like any you’ve seen. Each hole you cover plays a higher note.

You recall the scale guide the villager gave you. Maybe it’s the key to understanding how this flute plays.

Now, quick. Play the melody you solved earlier to draw out the children.

(Each correct note will appear below as the tune takes shape.)

The children hear the enchanting melody,
familiar and comforting, and they follow it back.

One by one, they emerge from the forest, eyes wide with wonder.

The villagers cheer.

"Thank ya kindly for bringin’ our children back!
We ain’t got much, but we hope our prize goat’ll keep your belly full for years to come..."
